By some accounts, Prometheus is the creator of the current version of man (men of the Heroic age and Iron Age). He and his brother, Epimetheus, were given sway to grant gifts to the creatures they created, but when it came time to bestow gifts on man, Epimetheus had none to give. So, he made man walk upright, like the gods, and gave him the gift of fire. When Zeus came to receive sacrifice from the newly created man, Prometheus, a crafty devil, decided to help. The men made two offerings, one was a cow's stomach filled with choice meats (something unappetizing, but really good), the other was a thigh bone wrapped in glistening fat (something that looks good, but is inedible). Zeus chose the latter, having been fooled by Prometheus. As punishment, Zeus took fire away from men. Prometheus stole it back again and we know his punishment.
For men, though Zeus devised something more devious. He created a woman, beautiful and cunning, she was instructed by the gods and given an insatiable curiosity. He sent her down from Olympus with a box that was sealed. She was given to Epimetheus as a wife, and he begged her not to open the box. At her first opportunity, though, she opened the box, releasing all manner of ills and woes upon her unsuspecting neighbors. Only hope remained and she was closely guarded.
Prometheus was the protagonist in the Greek myth about the origin of man's use and control of fire. Therefore, Prometheus symbolizes any concept related to this.
Not in any myth, no.
Prometheus helped humans (he gave them the fire of the Gods). This made Zeus cross and the then punished Prometheus for doing this in a terrible way.

Mary Shelley used "the modern Prometheus" as a subtitle for her novel "Frankenstein" to draw a parallel between the Greek myth of Prometheus and her story. In Greek mythology, Prometheus created humans out of clay and stole fire from the gods to give to mankind, leading to his punishment. Similarly, Victor Frankenstein creates life from dead tissue and is punished for his actions. The subtitle emphasizes the themes of creation, ambition, and the consequences of playing god that are central to the novel.

The pandora's box myth ends by Pandora opening the box that had been guarded by Prometheus (who was then nailed down on a mountain for stealing fire for humans), and then his brother Epimetheus, the husband of Pandora, and releasing envy, crime, hate and disease. Luckily, Prometheus had also shut hope into the box. If not for hope, the world would have been a world of depression and darkness.

There are several gods and goddesses involved. Hephaestus(craftsmanship) created Pandora at Zeus's request, Athena provided her clothes, Aphrodite provided beauty, and Hermes gave her the gift of speach. Prometheus stole fire and gave to Pandora which greatly angrered Zeus. Prometheus's bother Epimetheus creates Pandora's box(technically a "jar") upon Pandora opening it released all the evil upon the world.
The Myth of Prometheus - Piero di Cosimo - was created in 1515.
