I must have answered this ten times now.

When the people of Paris forced Louis XVI to move into the Tuileries palace (in Paris) from Versailles, and accept a Constitution, Lafayette suggested a new flag, whaich was the white of the Bourbon dynasty surrounded by the colours of the City of Paris, blue and red. Please note that the French flag is not red, white and blue, but blue, white and red.

The colours of the town of Paris were blue and red and supposed to honour the town's patron saints (Saint Denis, Saint Martin)

White had been adopted by the latest kings as the colour of the kingdom, in devotion to the Virgin Mary and to place the kingdom under her protection.
At the beginning of the French Revolution the king came to the town hall and to show his willingness to listen to the crowds, placed the blue and red cocard of the town, next to his own white one onto his hat. It is said that Lafayette championned the idea and a newly created cocard met a great popular success. In 1794 the Convention (the national assembly at the time) asked the famous painter Jacques Louis David to draw the flag and made it the national one.

the flag of the town of Paris was blue and red, the colours of its patron saints (Saint Denis and Saint Martin) before the French revolution. The kings had had various flags, including a white one in devotion to the Virgin Mary. During the first days of the French revolution, the king Louis the 16th came to the town hall of Paris and to show his goodwill to the populace, took a blue and red cocard and put it next to his white one on his hat (some say the idea was from La Fayette). These colours were adopted early in the days of the revolution and in 1794 the French painter Jaques-Louis David designed the flag for the national assembly.
