you dont catch it. after you get the HM cut, go to Pewter city to the right side of the museum. Cut down the tree and go inside. you should be behind the counter. go up and talk to the guy standing next to a gold sphere. you should get Old Amber. go to the laboratory on Cinnibar Island and talk to the guy in the last office. leave the building and go back and talk to him. He should have an Aerodactyl ready for you.
You need to get hm rock smash, go to Ruins of Alf , smash some rocks, find old amber, bring it to pewter city, in the museum, talk to the MAN behind the desk give him old amber go out side come back and he'll give you an Aerodactle (if you have space in your team).

∙ 12y agoyou get it from something called 'old amber' from the under ground and then you have to go to the museum in oreburgh city and give it to the man behind the counter. he will tell you to go outside for a minute so do it then go straight back inside and tsl to him again and he will have your aerodactyl.(just remember to leave one of your 6 Pokemon out so you have space to put aerodactyl). This should work even though i found out on the internet by googling it. hope it works

∙ 12y agoyou can not catch aerodactyl in Pokemon pearl or Pokemon dimond you need to go underground and dig to find an old amber but it in your bag and take it to the mining museum in orburg city talk to the guy at the counter.
