Creating sci-fi names often involves blending elements from different languages, cultures, or existing words to evoke a sense of otherworldliness. I consider phonetics, looking for unique combinations of sounds that feel futuristic or alien. Additionally, using prefixes or suffixes commonly found in sci-fi literature can help, as well as drawing inspiration from scientific terms or concepts. The goal is to create names that are memorable and fit the tone of the universe they inhabit.
We just watched Prometheus which was rated R for sci-fi violence. We wondered what exactly the term meant as well, but think it perhaps has to do with the creatures or blood involved. Perhaps the violence not resulting in red blood is considered "sci-fi". Maybe it's that the violence is between aliens and humans (as opposed to human vs human). I'd love a better answer, but that's what we came up with.
eventually,no. why? because it is a complete fiction story. okay, maybe not completely but most of that stuff can happen. the original is sci-fi and makes more sense. its better to be real rather than making something up.
Richard O'Brien had an idea to make a campy musical play about horror & sci fi movies. What he ended up with was "The Rocky Horror Show." When the movie was made, it was renamed "The Rocky Horror Picture Show."
It is not the Sci-Fi channel that chooses to end it, it is because that the shows seasons has ended. Stargate Atlantis has been cancelled by its producer and Stargate SG-1 has finally ended. Actually; it is not the Sci-Fi channel that ends it it is MGM and they were ended because of money problems.
One favorite seems to be disintegration; no body to clean up afterwards, and no mess. Another method sometimes used is putting the prisoner out of an airlock, this method is used in the reimagined Battlestar Galactica and the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
personally i would take a dictionary (english-aincent Japanese for example you know something that 99.99 percent of people wont know) and take a word or phrase from it that you like. tada! HAPPY NAME FINDING!

There are several answers to this question. 1- Thanks to Trekkies, and others that dress up and act geeky have brought good sci-fi down. 2- Within the top 10 best films of all time, over half are science fiction. 3- The grabber/water cooler programme. eg Lost. Some say they hate sci-fi, yet they have at least one sci-fi DVD in their collection.

Fiction. There are different forms of fiction -- novels, short stories, etc. -- and different genres of fiction -- historical, mystery, realistic, sci-fi, etc. -- but if it's made up, it's fiction.
No, SciFi is just airing season 1 as it often does with discontinued paranormal & scifi shows. It gets them at a discount.
