How do you find out about movie castings?

You must be a part of a major agency to find out about major movie auditions. If you go to web sites that have "audition" notices, do not join because 99 percent of the time they cheat you into paying. But, they aren't always! Here are some reputable sites: backstage.com, actorsaccess.com, lacastings.com, nycastings.com (Only join if it's a role you don't see on actorsaccess) You can contact your local cultural agency, usually county governments are the basis for these. They are constantly trying to attract movie production and related businesses into their local area and they must provide resources to do this. One way is to provide qualified, local talent. Just look for your local county cultural agency on the web or in your phone book. Look for publications that offer adds for auditions or look for a community theatre. Many newspapers feature casting call listings in the Friday edition. Or move to Hollywood or New York City. Take the plunge. There is company called "Time for me TV that offers a mainline to television through commercials. Any video you send them will be turned into a commercial for you. Imagine the possibilities.. promoting yourself or an idea in front of a mass television audience. Or, just say "Hi" to someone. Your call.

Also check on Craigslist.org under the gigs section. You can find some local casting calls on this site. You need an agency for more major roles, though. Plus, you need headshots and a resume that say where you've trained, videos, and productions you've done.

if you live in California you can read 'backstage west' which comes out every Thursday and is usually available at barnes and noble...or you can find websites on the internet that list casting notices...but if you want to be in a movie you have to be able to act first, so if you haven't taken any classes then I recommend you do. Because if you become a good enough actor you can audition at agencies in your area and if they like you, then they'll sign you, and so on.

There are plenty of online casting agencies that allow new and established talent to sign up and create profiles on their website. You can upload pictures and your resume (if you have one) and will have access to various daily castings, which you can submit yourself to. Search online for casting agencies in your city and/or state.

The best way to find auditions and open calls for movies and tv shows is through the app, Actor Genie. It was developed by Heidi Levitt, who is a very well known casting director (just Google her and she'll come up EVERYWHERE). This app also gives contact information for many different agents or managers, as well as do's and dont's of the audition room. Any actor who wants to be successful should download this app!! Or you can visit their website (actorgenie.com) or look them up on twitter. Its probably the most reliable way to find casting calls.

Well, the usual route is to join an agency and through them you will be informed about castings available. If you wish to learn about casting without being signed chances are you won't have any luck, because when movies are in need of actors they go to a specialized place (agencies) to get the people they are looking for. I myself am a model. Craigslist is als good. Click on he state and area you are in and click on the postings under "film and radio" (under jobs) and "events" "talent" (both located under gigs).
