You need to buy a PS2 Network Adapter as well as a Ps2 wireless internet connector (lookup: linksys) other than that I don't think you can just connect to your own wireless...... not a bad idea though.
The PS2 does not have WiFi like the PS3 so you need to have a wired connection. Wireless routers also have plugs in the back of them for a wired connection. What you need to purchase is a long enough Cat 5 or Cat 6 ethernet cable to go from the back of the PS2 to the back of a router and then just plug it in.
The way I have it set up is that my bthome hub quite close to the ps3 itself about 1meter or so. Just get it as close as you can and go to the setup screen and search for a wireless conection.
If it doesn't work try changing the channel your hub is set on incase there are other things about that give off interference and that should solve your problem.
New answer If you do not have a wireless connection to the internet the PS3 will not be able to connect to the internet. The wireless internet connection capability of the PS3 is to connect to the existing internet connection in your home. If you only have a cable modem and a ethernet cable running from your modem to your computer you do not have wireless and must have a wired connection or purchase a wireless router.
If you have a newer ps3 that has this feature just Google for the guide, if you can't complete the guide then likely you have too old version of ps3 for this. You could buy a wireless external network card though in that case and follow the instructions.
Use router and ethernet cable for a cable or DSL modem
