Looks like both are NiMH as NiCd batteries are generally not available for more than 800mAH rating. NiMH are common to have 1600mAH and more rating per AA cell. - Neeraj Sharma

i just got mine today and its been raining non-stop. aas ive been driving my slash non-stop with the stock battery as well. its been working just fine all day. it looks like moisture IS getting inside the the cover layer of the battery so idk if it will still work tomorrow or not. i put it up to a fan to dry it just to be safe. just be careful my friend!

Some of the more popular ones are ProBoat's BlackJack 26 brushless, fastech brushless, their brushless elam, and their new brushless boat. Aquacraft is also another very popular brand name. Their sv27 and UL-1 brushless boats are very fast. Aeromarine puts out a few high priced models and minicat racing has some models that are extremely fast. When looking for the "fastest" there are several factors to consider. Hull type, battery type, motor, speed controller, prop, and water conditions. For example, a hydro hull will be faster than a v-hull but you better be on very calm water with a hydro or it go airborne; where as the v-hull will be able to handle rough water the best. Also a v-hull will cleave the water and turn sharper that a flat hull will which will slide in turns unless a turn fin is added. For power Lithium Polymer aka LiPo are lighter and put out more current to weight than Nickel Metal Hydride aka NiMH's do and last much longer, however they are also more expensive. The advantages of NiMH are that each cell is at 1.2volts at charge while LiPo cells are usually at 3.7v per cell. For instance a 6 cell NiMH standard pack is 7.2v while a 2 cell LiPo is 7.4v. The advantage comes into play when choosing power setups. For example, Lets use the SV27. If we have 2 sv27's one with 2 7.2v NiMH packs and one with 2 7.4v LiPo's the LiPo boat will go at least 5-7mph faster than the SV27 with the NiMH's. But add a cell to each of the NiMH packs making them 8.4v each and the LiPo SV27 will no longer be the fastest. If you were to do the same thing to the LiPo's by adding a cell, now each LiPo pack is 11.1v combined for 22.2v!!! The SV27's motor and speed controller will fry. If you like building then you can get your custom boat to go as fast as the hull can handle. The current world record is a rigger hull at 146.7mph!!! I'm currently building a 40inch V-hull with a large Brushless electric set up. The motor is a 12 turn 45mmX77mm Brushless watercooled motor with a 120amp water cooled speed controller or ESC. I'll power it with a 8s LiPo (2 14.8v 5000mAh 35c 4s1p LiPo's in series) for a total of 29.6volts!!! I'll be using an Octura x452 prop. I'm expecting over 70mph!!! I also have a ProBoat BJ 26 BL I'm running 2 7.4v 4000mAh 25c 2s1p LiPo's. My BJ goes about 45mph with the LiPo's. I've also modded an old Cen Baja that came with a 550 brushed motor. I added a 775 brushed motor with a Navy 60amp brushed ESC. This boat moves at about 35 to 40mph with 36mm 2-blade prop I added to it using a 14.8v 3000mAh 35c 4s1p LiPo pack. In conclusion, if you are looking for the all in all fastest mass production Brushless r/c boat I'd guess it would probaby be the New Aquacraft UL-1 as it is a hydro hull running on 2 2s1p 7.4v 25c-30c burst 45c-50c 3300mAh - 5000+mAh LiPos. I heard about 47mph!!! I don't own one YET so I can't say for sure.
