The ideal solution would be to use a Sony J30 Digital Betacam/SX player, and connect via firewire to a DV recorder such as the Sony DSR11. Make sure you select the correct audio channels with the J30 (monitor with headphones), other than that it should be a straight PLAY and RECORD process.
Alternatively get a company to do this for you, a Google search will produce plenty of business who can do this.

Hi, DV cable is nothing but "Digital Video" cable and is used for connections with computers, DVD player and video camera/camcorders. It is also called as a firewire cable. It look like a USB cable which you can find on many computers and electronics gadgets. Hope this helps, Manjunath A.V
A digital movie camera is a motion picture camera that uses a computer chip. The first versions still put the data to tape, usually a mini DV tape. Nowadays digital movie cameras have hard drives or take SD cards.

Well it depends on the mini dv and the content it holds. Although this transfer would depend on length on video that is on your mini dv, it will also depend on the hardware you're using to do the transfer.

You need to list the steps you are taking to attempt to transfer the video. Say what you are doing so we can figure out what you are doing wrong. When I transfer my video, I: 1. Connect the video camera to the firewire 2. Turn on the camera in Play Mode 3. Start the ULead software 4. Tell ULead to Get Video or Capture Video from the video camera. The software runs the camera and then you save the video in a PC format. It is best to try this with a tape of something that does not matter in case you screw up and record over the tape.
MiniDV video is captured to a computer in real-time as it is played back on the camcorder. A Firewire DV card is by far the best to use, it was designed for video and has a vary high transfer rate, make sure your camera has firewire, a lot of time it is marked as DV out. You can also add a firewire card to your computer fairly easily. Search for 'PCI firewire card' for desktop computers and "PCMCIA firewire card' USB won't work because the transfer rate is not fast enough. Another option is to use a professional video transfer service. They use super high quality audio cables that connect miniDV decks to high quality video cards directly. This would get you the best quality. StashSpace.Com offers this transfer service for $6.95 a tape.
Natinally they will be using HDTV. Locally they use digital media (like MPEG, etc.), DV-tape/CD/memory, and actually some still use Beta-SP tape.
