How exactly Marty and Doc met has never been explained, although a draft script for the first film states that, in 1983, Doc turned up at Marty's garage one day and offered him $50 a week, plus free beer and use of his record collection, to clean his garage. This explanation is not accepted by most fans, as it contradicts the characterizations of Marty and Doc as seen in the finished film. Writers Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale say they once considered expanding on their relationship, but decided against it, reasoning that children and adolescents might be attracted to eccentric or mysterious neighbors.
Back to the Future: Marty McFly Back to the Future 2: Marty Mcfly, Marty McFly Junior, Marlene McFly Back to the Future 3: Marty Mcfly, Seamus Mcfly
In the films, the character of Marty McFly is 16 years old, and the character of Doc Brown is 56 years old.
Because in 1985 it was on JFK drive but in 1955 JFK was alive and not as well known. Also Doc Brown lived in a different house as he spent his family fortune developing the flux capacitor.
It is just indicated in the movie they had already known eachother for a long time. Doc would have first met Marty in 1955 after he travelled back.
That is a good question- but Biff knew it was a time machine after overhearing Doc tell Marty it was not invented for personal gain.

Doc enters in the date November 5, 1955, as the target date, explaining that it was the day he conceived the idea of the flux capacitor; the device which "makes time travel possible". Marty traveled back on the date he had set into the time machine. When he arrived early that morning, he did not immediately go see Doc. It was only after "bumping" into his family did he leave and go see Doc that evening---the same day, though.
