The Lower House of the Parliament of Canada is styled the House of Commons.
The House of Commons does not directly select which parties form government or opposition. The Governor General of Canada appoints the person who is best able to command the support of a majority of members of the House of Commons to become the prime minister and to form a Government. The largest party, other than the Government, becomes Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition. Though the Governor General's choice for prime minister is normally clear, the viceroy/vicereine has a degree of personal discretion when no party has received a clear majority of seats.
In the UK, there is a Leader of the Opposition in both the House of Commons and House of Lords. The leader of the largest opposition party holds this position, which for the Commons and Lords is currently the Labour Party. Ed Miliband, leader of the Labour party, is the current Leader of the Opposition in the Commons. This role commands an additional salary to the parliamentary salary received as an MP. The Leader of the Opposition in the Commons picks a 'Shadow Cabinet' to follow the work of government departments. Baroness Royall of Blaisdon is the Leader of the Opposition in the House of Lords. This is according to parliament.uk.
The Labour Party is the official opposition party to the Conservative/Liberal Democrat coalition government.

A party does not "represent" Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition. Rather, a party is Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition by virtue of being the political party with the most seats in opposition. It is theoretically possible (but unlikely) for the third place party to form the opposition if the two larger parties should form a coalition government.Currently, the New Democratic Party is the Official Opposition in Canada's House of Commons.
In Canada, Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition (popularly known as the Official Opposition) is simply the political party which holds the most seats in the House of Commons (or a provincial assembly) next to the dominant party. Usually it is the second-largest party. The Official Opposition may be either a narrowly defined party or a coalition. Currently, the New Democratic Party of Canada forms the official opposition in Canada, for the first time in its history. It has held this status since 2011, when it won a party record 103 seats in the House of Commons - second to the Conservative Party's 166 seats.
Usually the government is under the control of a political party or a coalition of political party's. If your party does not have control of the government but does have seats in the parliament or senate then it is an opposition party. That is a party that opposes the government. The official opposition is the party with the second most seats in the house of commons.

In the Federal Government of the United States, the opposition party is the Republican Party.
It's not entirely clear what you mean. In the House of Commons, opposition parties occasionally coordinate their attack on the government.
In UK the PM is the leader of the largest party in Parliament, & is the person in leadership of the Government. The Leader of the Opposition is the leader of the second largest Party in the House of Commons & is politically opposed to the party in Government. Basically the PM governs the country & the Leader of the Opposition critiscises what the PM & the Government do.
the difference is that the government is generally the party that has won the election, and the opposition is the party that came second in the election.
In Australia, the leader of the Opposition in 2011 is Tony Abbott, of the Liberal party.

In the British Parliament, the party in government is the party that gained the most votes at the last General Election - which was the Conservatory Party (though with a reduced majority). The Official Opposition Party (The Labour Party) gained fewer votes, so are the Opposition Party in the House of Commons. Therefore, the party that came second is known as the opposition party.
