In September 26th 1580, Francis Drake came back to Plymouth after his long 3 year voyage around Earth. He brought back money for Queen Elizebeth 1st, discovered new places and attempedto bring peace between England and Spain.
The Golden Hind, Sir Francis Drake's famous galleon, was built in 1577 and took approximately one year to complete. It was launched in the same year, before embarking on its historic circumnavigation of the globe. The ship was originally constructed in Deptford, England, and was a key vessel in Drake's successful expedition.

Sir Francis Drake (1540-1596) was married twice, each time for around 11 or 12 years. But he had no children by either marriage. He married his first wife, Mary Newman, in 1569, but she died in 1581. He married his second wife, Elizabeth Sydenham, in 1585. She was about 22 years younger than Drake, and after his death in 1596 she remarried.
