Only seven people were chosen for the Mercury program. Six out of the seven astronauts chosen had a Mercury flight. Deke Slayton was grounded because he had a heart problem (a heart murmur to be exact). He was able to fly as part of the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project.
here are the seven mermbers of the Mercury program:
Alan Shepard jr.
Gus Grissom
John Glenn Jr.
Scott Carpenter
Walter Schirra jr.
Gordon Cooper jr.
Deke Slayton
1 astronaut each flight
As each Apollo spacecraft had three astronauts at a time and seven Apollo crafts flew to the moon, there were a total of 21 astronauts.
Each Gemini spacecraft launched 2 astronauts. 16 different astronauts flew a total of 10 Gemini flights. The last 4 Gemini flights (Gemini 9 through 12) were commanded by astronauts who had previously flown on an earlier Gemini flight.
A total of 12 astronauts walked on the moon , two in each mission.
Scientists and Explorers are alike because they both have to draw conclusions and search for the unexpected. So a way their different is that a scientist stays in a lab and tries to solve diseases with cures, but Explorers have to go and look for those things and another alike trait would be that scientists and explorers always have to have preparedness and risk taking. Scientists have a variety of ways to do things as do explorers. Ways that Scientists and Explorers are different would be that explorers have no boss; they can go out into the world and get lost with Mother Nature.
i think that astronauts usually get about six hours of sleep every night when they are in space.

The Gemini program flew orbital manuevering and docking exercises between 1964 and 1966, with crewed flights from 1965 to 1966. The Gemini spacecraft (missions III to XII) were flown by two astronauts each.

There were some remote control cameras already hooked up to the spacecraft and the astronauts took many pictures/videos of each other,
It is customary to name spacecraft in the tradition of naming naval ships. It is considered bad luck in the military (and with good reason) to fly or travel in a vessel or aircraft that has not been properly christened or named, be it on Earth or anywhere else.Previous examples were expendable spacecraft (e.g., Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo missions), where each was named individually within its specific mission/program. For example, Alan Shepard's first Mercury capsule was named Freedom 7; John Glenn's Mercury capsule was named Friendship 7, etc. All of the Mercury capsule names ended with "7", indicating the number of the original Mercury 7 Astronauts. With the Gemini and Apollo missions, each spacecraft had its own name, within the mission number. The Shuttle names continue that tradition, though being reusable, they maintained their original names throughout their history. Only the mission name/number changed.
American spacecraft actually landed on the moon 6 times, each time with two astronauts, for a total of 12 men who walked on the Moon.
7 astrounets u see they were picked for this part they were very lucky guys
As there is no air , it is difficult , but astronauts use radios.
PFD for each person aboard.
Only two astronauts landed on the moon during each mission. Neil and Buzz walked on the surface while Mike Collins stayed in lunar orbit aboard the CSM.
The speed of a space shuttle while in orbit is approximately 17,500 miles per hour. An interesting fact is that astronauts aboard the Shuttle eat about 3.8 pounds of food each day. These foods are prepackaged.
