A Guru is a Hindu or Buddhist religious leader and spiritual teacher Many people rely on their own personal Guru for spiritual help. There is no set period of time when Guru's became popular with Westerners and those of other faiths from other countries. They are used because of their mysticism and so called prophet abilities.
