The Cyclops (Polyphemus) ate six of Odysseus' men.
Polyphemus eats two men the first time they meet at night, two in the morning for breakfast, and two more after the day's work is done.
I don't remember the character's names in the Odyssey, but the hero, George Clooney was Odysseus, the one who traveled far away for many years. His wife, Penelope (who had suitors for her hand in marriage) waited for him to come home. The blind old black man was the blind prophet (Oracle) who told Odysseus what would happen during his travels. John Goodman's character was the Cyclops, the one eyed monster who tried to kill Odysseus and his two followers (the ones who escaped from prison with him in the movie) and keep them from finding the (non-existent) treasure. The two men who went along with Odysseus were seduced by the singing women (representing Circe), and were thought to have been turned into frogs, whereas in the Odyssey, I believe they were turned into pigs. I'm afraid I don't remember the correlation between the young Black man who sold his soul to the devil and the characters of the Odyssey, but the Cyclops tried to kill him as well as Odysseus and his two followers. To be honest, what I've written is confusing, now that I look at it. You can read about Odysseus and the Odyssey on the Wikipedia website: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odysseus
Odysseus is determined, and he is unlucky to have so many tragedies occur along the way.
Eurylochus made Odysseus angry by the following actions: Eurylochus convinces the crew to open the bag of winds just before the ship reached Ithaca, thinking that there was treasure inside the bag. After Odysseus rescued the men from Circe, in an attempt to warn the men from going to Circe's house, Eurylochus called the deaths of the crewmates at the cyclops Polphemus' hands the fault of Odysseus' leadership. Eurylochus convinces the crew to kill Hyperion's cattle for meat.
There are many theories that Odysseus traveled in America and his journey in the Mediterranean Sea is doubted since Odysseus was a well trained sailor.
After twenty years from home, Odysseus departs from the goddess Calypso's island. He arrives in Phoenicia, which is ruled by Alcinous. Alcionous asks Odysseus to tell him the story of his adventures, in exchange for a ship back to his homeland. Odysseus then proceeds to tell Alcinous of the war in Troy, going to Ismarus, how his soldiers dismantled the town and losing several rows of men on each ship from the Cicones army.
The cyclops that Odysseus encountered was Polyphemus; in Greek Mythology there were many cyclops.
Polyphemus kills and eats 6 of his men.2 the first night they are there,2 for breakfast and then 2 for dinner.
The Cyclops, Polyphemus, ate six of Odysseus' men. In the encounter described in Homer's "Odyssey," Polyphemus captures Odysseus and his crew, and during the course of their imprisonment, he consumes several of the men. Odysseus ultimately devises a plan to escape, leading to the Cyclops' blindness and their eventual escape from the cave.
There were many Cyclops; the elder three, and the younger tribes. Polyphemus, whom Odysseus encountered, had Galatos by Galateia.
In Homer's "Odyssey," specifically in the episode involving the Cyclops Polyphemus, Odysseus does not lose any men directly to the Cyclops during their encounter. Instead, he cleverly devises a plan to escape from Polyphemus after blinding him. However, later in the story, Polyphemus calls upon his father Poseidon to avenge him, which leads to further hardships for Odysseus and his crew, resulting in losses later on, but not specifically in the encounter with the Cyclops.
Polyphemus (the cyclops) ate four men total, 2 the first and 2 the second.
Odysseus takes 12 of his best men to explore the land of the cyclops including Polyphemus' cave.
This depends on which men you are talking about. Most of the men Odysseus kills, he kills in war against the Trojans. Odysseus kills many fellow Ithacans for wooing his wife Penelope. There are also many men that Odysseus 'sacrifices', such as the 6 men he loses to Scylla.
12 of his men and if you count him; 13 men go into the cave
He instructed him on many things, but most of the time his instructions revolved around Odysseus' Blind and Rash Behavior. Ex. When he waited for the cyclops, when he taunted the cyclops (Polyphemus), and when he rushed back to Circe's house and was stopped by Hermes.
Poseidon had 56 children. The best known ones are Triton, Theseus, Orion, and Polyphemus. Polyphemus was a cyclops who lived on the island of Sicily, and he was blinded by Odysseus in "The Odyssey" by Homer.
Polyphemus cries out to his father, the god Poseidon. He requests revenge on Odysseus and his men, asking that they not return home to Ithaca.
