Roughly 700 survived, and over 1500 perished.

They died from not drowning, but freezing to death. Only 6 survived the ice cold waters.

"It hits like a thousand knives stabing all over your body" - Jack Dawson, character from the 1997 Titanic.

The last Titanic Survivor, Milliva Dean recently died, and now there are no living survivors of Titanic. God rest their souls.

Hope I helped
There were 2,223 people aboard the Titanic.

1,517 (68.2%) died

706 (31.8%) survived
710 people survived (32%) while 1,514 people died (68%)
1517 people died 706 lived
THERE WAS 705 sivivers
When the 'Titanic' sank on April 15th 1912, there were 2, 223 people aboard, 705 survived and 1, 517 perished. The previous sentence/answer can not be correct unless for some reason 1 person isn't included as either a survivor or one that died,705 plus 1,517 equals 2,222 not 2,223. Or maybe there were only 2,222 total.
Out of the 2,217 that was on board the Titanic, 705 survived; 1,512 died
There were two inquiries held concerning the sinking of the Titanic, one in the United States and one in Britain. They differed in their reporting of the exact figures.

The United States Senate Inquiry that reported on May 28, 1912 the figures given were as follows:

  • 2,223 people aboard, 706 survived (1,517 died) 68.2% of all passengers died.
  • From First class: 329 people, 130 died 199 survived; 39.5% lost
  • Second Class: 285 people 166 died 119 survived; 58.3% lost
  • Third Class: 710 people 536 died 174 survived; 75.5% lost
  • Crew: 899 people 685 died 214 survived; 76.2% lost

The British Wreck Commissioner's Inquiry into the sinking reported on 30th July 1912 and concluded that:

  • 817 out of 1,316 passengers died (and 499 survived)
  • 673 out of 885 crew died (and 212 survived)

Meaning that out of of 2,201 on board the inquiry recorded that 711 survived and 1490 died.
1,496 people died on Titanic (and 712 were saved).
There were 1,496 people that died on Titanic, including passengers and crew, and 712 that survived in the lifeboats.
1,496 people died on Titanic (and 712 were saved).
710 lived and 1,514 died, 32% saved and 64% lost.
Titanic had 712 survivors and 1,496 victims.
