65536 virtual ports. Port number is a 16 bit number, so there are 2^16 (65536) ports for a NAT router.
Aside from initiating a Chat (text or voice/video) from the XMB above your Friends list, you must have certain ports and settings configured on your Router for proper PS3-PS3 and PS3-PSN communication.Your Router must have Network Address Translation (NAT) and UPnP (Plug 'n Play) settings Enabled for Chat functions to work properly. In addition, the following ports must be setup for Port Forwarding (Single or Range) or Port Triggering:ROUTER NAT AND UPnP MODES - ENABLED*Note: Make sure to enable these TCP/UDP ports in BOTH directions (i.e, for Routers that have TCP, UDP, and Both for settings, set them to Both. If your Router doesn't have that type of setting, set the Port to either TCP or UDP as indicated, and enable the pass-through in both directions (full duplex))TCP Ports: 10070 - 10080 UDP Ports: 10070 Voice Chat: UDP 6000-7000, 10070 (for headset operation) Remote Play via Access Point: TCP 9293PLAYSTATION Network: TCP Ports: 80, 443, 5223 UDP Ports: 3478, 3479, 3658If you're not sure how to setup your Router, go to my long post on the subject at the PS3 Forums (Link below). It has screen shots so you can see how it's done.
Nat Turner was executed on November 11, 1831 in Jerusalem, Virginia at the age of 31 years old.
Test your xbox live connection in network settings and your nat type is open

to forward ports you will login to your router go to the nat function and select the ports you want to forward and to what internal ip
You can forward ports on your router for your PS3's IP, add the PS3 to the router's DMZ, or (although just this isn't the best fix in my experience) turn UPnP on on your router
Many consumer routers are actually NAT switches which is a hybrid device. If you want seemless connectivity then the NAT switch secondary device must be configured as a ROUTER and attached directly to your Gateway device. The Gateway device could be a ADSL Modem, Cable Modem, NAT Router (Switch) etc
NAT IS A FIREWALL -- inside a router and when on you have a hardware firewall protecting you
What is the real difference between NAT and PAT? NAT is a feature of a router that will translate IP addresses. When a packet comes in, it will be rewritten in order to forward it to a host that is not the IP destination. A router will keep track of this translation, and when the host sends a reply, it will translate back the other way. PAT translates ports, as the name implies, and likewise, NAT translates addresses. Sometimes PAT is also called Overloaded NAT
Could be the NAT on your router or his/her router. try disabling or opening the NAT.
Sometimes this is due to NAT type 3. You get this when connecting your PS3 Via wi-fi. But there is a way you can bypass this, you enter the PS3 ports into your router.
Depends on the type of router you have. Google "How to open NAT setting on a [Enter router type here]". You should find your answer there.
It depends on your router. You can find the answer on your router manufacturer's website.
The router is the reason. It's not strong enough to handle online gaming. I had the same issue and got an upgrade on modem to one that can handle online gaming and multi-device use.
You need to access the settings on your router.
A router passes traffic between networks to reach other computers or servers. A router also does NAT. Nat masquerades traffic behind the router with private IP(Non-internet route able) with the Public IP (Internet route able)
