I can't answer the question entirely, but i do know that two GE plants have contaminated something like a 200 mile stretch of the hudson, from the falls to NY harbor. They dumped tons and tons of PCB's into the river along with other contaminates. Basically, if 2 GE factories did this much contaminating, imagine the big picture.
