Money laundering and terrorist financing are international problems. Money laundering in Canada alone is estimated to be in the billions of dollars. To help fight these criminal activities, the Government of Canada has introduced the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act.
Under the legislation, there are no restrictions on the amount of money that you can bring into or take out of Canada, nor is it illegal to do so. However, you now have to report to a border services officer amounts equal to or greater than CAN$10,000, or its equivalent in a foreign currency that you are bringing into or taking out of Canada.

It really depends in how much the guy at the gate is okay with. They don't want you selling the goods for money without paying the taxes on it. So I'd reccomend not bringing back more than it looks like you would use regularly.
There are few limits to the amount of most products that can be brought back from Mexico. If you are over certain limits, such as $800 of personal goods after being away for 7 days or more, you may have to pay duty or tax. Just be sure to declare everything, failure to do so is smuggling.
If it is for business use there are, again, few limits but there are certain items allowed in Mexico that are not allowed in Canada or we have trade restrictions against. Check with the Canadian government, Canada Customs before bringing back items for business use.
