The average Canadian is 5'9.5 (male). Caucasian Canadians are on average slightly taller than their European cousins (comprised largely of Scots, Irish, Brits, Frenchmen, Italians) as per ancestry. However, since Northern Europeans make up a smaller portion of Caucasian ancestry, I would guesstimate the average Dutch, German or Scandinavian white male is probably a half-inch taller. I'm guessing the average white Canadian is 5'11.
Canada also has sizable proportions of South Asian, East Asian and Haitian ancestry, all of whom are slightly shorter than Europeans, which would explain why we're 5'9.5 on average.
Going by experience, I would say the average American male is slightly taller, if only because the US has greater proportions of Northern European ancestry, and taller blacks (perhaps the practice of selective importation of Africans during the slave trade?).
