That sounds far more like a badly corroded battery connection, Tight does not mean its good, remove the cable ends and inspect for rust, varnish or paint. Remember each cable has 2 ends. bend the cable back and forth abit if they bent to easy or are overly stiff you could have corrosion inside the cable itself.
you have to be more specific but a gas tank vent solenoid is usually underneath the vehicle by the tank. The charcoal canister vent solenoid is on the charcoal canister in the engine compartment. Both are replaced with a screwdriver or sockets. (Charcoal Canister and Vent/Purge Solenoid on this vehicle are located in front of the gas tank. Mounted to the gas tank and frame under the drivers door.)

I DO BELIEVE THE SOLENOID IS MOUNTED ON THE STARTER AND YOU WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE STARTER TO REPLACE THE SOLENOID remove the starter and take it down to your local auto parts store. they can bench test the starter and give you the proper solenoid if it needs to be replaced.
