Latin America is the region of the Americas (the American Continent) where romance language (Spanish, Portuguese and French) are spoken. It includes countries in North, Central and South America and the Caribbean. This is every country in the Americas except for the United States, Canada, Guyana and Suriname.
It does not include countries like Spain, Italy or Portugal where romance languages are spoken, but are not in the Americas.

Cuba is an island lying east of North America.

The islands of the Caribbean (West Indies, or Antilles) are between North and South America, but are often classified as being North America, as is Central America. These include Cuba, Hispaniola, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, and numerous smaller islands.
America and Cuba both have American currency.
In general, Latin America is made up of three regions: South America, Caribbean and Middle America. Cuba is a nation in the Caribbean.

Latin America does include South America, but it also includes Mexico and all those islands around where Cuba is.

The Caribbean Sea is bounded by South America to the south, the Virgin Islands chain from Anguilla to Grenada in the east, by Puerto Rico and Cuba on the north, and Central America to the west. Jamaica is just south of Cuba; about the center of the Caribbean from east to west, but much closer to Cuba than to South America.
Havana is the capital of Cuba, which is located in the Caribbean region, not in either Middle or South America.
It is an island south of Florida.
CUBA
Cuba was an early colony in the exploration of Spain in the Western Hemisphere. Often it was a staging base for Spanish expeditions into both North and South America.
