naruto is acutally still a genin because he went away for 2 in a half years he could not retake the exams i think he will eventually though
In the first episodes of shippuden, the other characters actually "tease" Naruto about how he was still a genin and they were all chunin. He never got a chance to take the chunin exams because in the last regular episode he went to train for about 2 years with Jariaya.

∙ 13y agoNo, he's a genin. Though he's very powerful, he was away training with Jiraiya. He could be promoted to a chuunin though. He has power levels (thanks to Kyuubi) exceeding those that are jounin level. He should be a jounin.

Except for Kankuro, Gaara, Temari and Neji- They have become Jonin
Naruto was gone so he is still a genin
Sasuke left so he's a rouge but his powers match that of a jonin or higher

Maybe fighting Kakashi was a test to become a chunin. Naruto did use his brains alot more than sakura that time didnt he?
