Yes the Navajo Indians are an Indian tribe. They are located in the Southwestern part of the United States of America and their climate is steppe. The region is the Intermountain region. The only reason the climate is steppe is because the Navajo Indians have very hot Summer, very cold Winters, and very little rainfall. Which is the descruption if the climate Steppe.
No.
Although Native Americans are thought to have come from NE Asia in three waves, Athabascan people ( which Navajo are a part of) are thought to have come 8-10,000 years ago. This is way before what we know of as Mongolians. They arose about 4,000 years ago and rode horses and had wheeled vehicles and copper and bronze.
The Navajo language is part of a larger group that some have tied to the Yenisei language, but they are not Mongolian. The between Mongolians and Navajo similarities are superficial and in part have to do with sheep culture which is only 400 years old in the Navajo.
Any other possible relationship would have to be some long ago common NE Asian ancestral culture that somehow retained common elements over thousands of years.
For Navajo people, they strongly believe that they arose about 1100 years ago in the La Plata Mountains of southern Colorado. All scientific evidence points to a similar time period and place for the start of the culture that is like today's Navajo.
I am 61 yrs old Dine' (Navajo) and reside on the Ramah Navajo Reservation in west-central New Mexico which is geographically separated from the greater Navajo Reservation. My niece recently had her DNA done in January 2021. Although she did not tell me the percentage, she said she is Navajo, Mongolian, Northern Asian and a small percentage of Swiss. I wish to one day visit Mongolia.
