Is Pokemon platinum the same as diamond and pearl?

Yes. They are extremely different. They both take place in the same region, but many things have changed. Different Pokemon, different Elite Four, differen Battle Frontier, different mass outbreaks, different story line in some places, and you can go to the distortion world in Platinum, but in Diamond you catch giratina in Turnback Cave.

So it's very different in many more ways than listed above.

The difference is the characters are going to look different than pearl's.Another difference is Pokemon will be in different places. And giratina,shaymin,and rotom will have new forms. Plus, giratina is the main star of the game.

Ok there are actually fewer differances then there are newer things. Some of the differences are the new clothes your character wears. There are new improved sprites for DP pokemone, and a new Poketech. And there are also 2 new characters. Charon (a new team Galactic boss), and Looker (a detective trying to take dowm team Galactic.) And also in Platinum version, Giritina and Shaymin have two forms (sort of like Deoxis). You'll also have to go through the distortion World, and Nintendo finally brought back the Battle Frointer we all loved in emerald. On top of all that, there is 3 new and improved (might I add harder) gyms, and the game seems A LOT harder than all other Pokemon games, which is a very good thing. I have Pearl version and Platinum version, an Platinum is WAY better!

Well, kinda, the storyline is kinda the same, so Cyrus wants the world to be a better place and all, but instead of one legendary Pokemon appearing (so in Diamond it is Dialga, and in Pearl, it is palkia) both appear, and then giratina appears. Also there are new features, such as the battle frontier, and the distortion world. Plus, the intro is somewhat different.

Nope! Pokemon Platinum has better places,new forms of Pokemon,better sprites,you can catch both Dialga and Palikia,and you can go to the Disortion world.

Pokemon card such as platinum and diamond are not the same because platinum dosent come with any special cards and diamond does.
