Of course it isn't. But the historical facts, including the secret book are real. There is no treasure but many items and other things make up a great story.

Also the caves that Ben and company enter to find Cibola are real, and so is the switch that openes the door. It just makes you wander if you go to the places in the movie and attempt to find such items that you actually might!

There has been no proof that it doesnt exist, The knights of templar who are the ones who supposely owned the teasure where taken down by the pope and king of France i believe and just before they were taken down it was told that they put all there wealth on a ship to America, and our founding fathers found it and hid it. Christopher Columbus was part of the knights of templar also. So history says it is possible but we don't know for sure

For the most part, yes. Of course, Thomas Gates did not find a treasure map on John Wilkes Booth's diary. But, the first scene, which is the assassination of Lincoln, was very accurate. For example, the play that Abraham Lincoln was watching when he really died was a comedy play. In the movie, you see the audience laughing. Another similarity is the phrase that John Wilkes Booth yells after he shoots Lincoln, "Sic Semper Tyrannis." Also, a lot of the "clues" in the movie are based on real history. The resolute desks really are in the White House and Buckingham Palace. There are really three Statues of Liberty. These movies are very accurate, except for the treasures. Some people have thought that there is a City of Gold somewhere. Also the caves beneath Mt Rushmore do exist, and so does the switch that openes the door.

sorry to dissapoint, but no. i don't know as much about the first movie, so I'm not sure if there is a templar treasure or a legend about it.

in the second movie-- the LEGEND of cibola is real, but the treasure is not. anything is possible though, maybe we just haven't found it yet.

cool fact: Francisco Vasquez de Coronado came from Spain to where present day New Mexico is to look for Cibola in summer 1540. He didnt find the gold. :(

In some ways, yes. A lot of the clues are based on real history, but there's no treasure map on the back of The Declaration of Independence.
