People are metured enough to feel the caste system is nothing important day to day life. But the problem is with politicians, they can not survive with out caste, religion and religious system.
The caste system was outlawed in India in 1950. However, many areas of India still exhibit these traits and characteristics.
The Caste system is basically how the consists of: Brahmins (priests), Kshatryias (rulers/warriors), Vaisyas (merchants/farmers), Shudras (servants/labourers), and Outcastes. In my opinion, the caste system affects the society by making the people more exposed to prejudice, stereotyping and other things. These differences in rankings often cause disputes within the society. However, how it affects the society depends on how you see it.
social pyramid They have social clases. The lowest in the social class is an untochable In India they have what they call the cast system, its is a hierarchy of human worth and I believe its orgins have to do with their belief in reincarnation, if you do not get it right this time around then you are born into a lower order of cast. You have no right to try and raise yourself within the society for your place in society has been earned by you in a former life. It is an oppressive system one many Indian people have been trying to do away with. It is one example of how mythology/religion can have far reaching negative influences, it is irrational, but, reason is hard won in the face of well established religion/mythologies.
The Indian caste system was divided into five different classes (varnas): Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, Shudras and Dalits (the "Untouchables", who were excluded from the caste system all together) The Brahmins were the priestly class that focused primarily on reading the religious scriptures (Vedas). Today the caste system is illegal in India, but those born into the Brahmin caste are still venerated and given privileges.
The caste system is not legally sanctioned in India, as discrimination based on caste is prohibited under the Indian Constitution. However, the caste system continues to have a strong influence on Indian society despite legal prohibitions.
The Caste System in India did not end. It is still in place.

Officially the caste system is illegal in India, proscribed by the Constitution of India in 1950. However, the caste system is still adhered to by many people in India, especially in rural areas. It is falling out of favor in the cities, and as people become more educated, it will continue to lose popularity, but it is unlikely that the type of discrimination engendered by the caste system will disappear totally anytime soon.
There is still Caste System (social classes) in India and it puts differences between the people.
The caste system in India was legally abolished in 1950 through the Constitution of India with the implementation of laws that prohibit discrimination based on caste. However, social discrimination and practices associated with the caste system still persist in some parts of India despite legislation.
Unfortunately, It still exists. Its like a crippling disease for India.
