That sounds a lot like the movie Clerks (1994),which is about a guy, Dante (Brian O'Halloran), who works at a convenience store. It's a Kevin Smith movie; it's the first movie Jay and Silent Bob are in. A sequel was released in 2006. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't as good as the first one.
