All of the characters thought Chandler was gay. He had some sort of quality and character that made him seem gay even though he was not. This was a running gag throughout the series as the writers had originally wanted to make Chandler a gay character. Instead they put in sly innuendos of his sexuality and other jokes that made him seem weak and girly.
