The current federal voting age of eighteen was proposed to the 28th Parliament by the Government of The Right Honourable Pierre Trudeau P.C., C.H., C.C., Q.C., F.R.S.C. as prime minister. This amendment to s. 3 of the Canada Elections Act reduced the federal voting age (and the minimum age for candidacy) from twenty-one to eighteen years of age.
No because that would mean more drinking!
The voting age used to be 21. but the government changed it to 18 during the Vietnam war because many 18 - 20 year olds were sent into the war to fight, and it was only fair that they got a say in the next leader of their country since they were serving their country (the USA)

The growth in public sentiment for a lowered voting age is for increased public participation.
I think that the voting age should be lowered to 16 because they are the people that are affected by the decisions made by the president, and also it could have a bigger impact on society and actually get people to vote! Based on the last election, I think it should be 20...
