This is more of a random fact, but the reason why there weren't enough boats on the Titanic was because a few years before a boat had sunk and there were too many life boats, so the designers only outfitted life boats on the Titanic for decoration more than anything else, as they thought it would never sink.

The Titanic was designed to hold 32 lifeboats, it was eventually paired down to twenty.

Lifeboat number 6 was designed to hold 65 people.

No. There were only enough lifeboats for just over half the people on board. Although none of the lifeboats were filled to capacity, each could hold around 60 people but many had less than 20 passengers.

The standard lifeboats of the time (14 on board the Titanic) had a capacity to hold 65 people each. The collapsible lifeboats (4 on board) had a capacity to hold 47 people each. Two emergency cutters had a capacity to hold 40 people each.

The Titanic didn't save everyone, but if they fit everyone into 15 lifeboats they would all fit because there could be 68 people per lifeboat

Why weren't more life boats put on the Titanic?

Regulations at the time did not require ships to be equipped with enough lifeboats to carry all passengers. The lifeboats were typically used to ferry passengers from a ship in distress to a rescuing ship. The Titanic had actually carried more lifeboats than what regulations required, but still only able to accomodate half the passengers. The White Star Line also didn't want more boats, as they felt it made the decks look too cluttered and it obstructed the view for the passengers.
