You probably have a bad flasher. This is the thing that actually interrupts the blinker signal, making the lights go on and off. It's location will vary by make and model of vehicle, but is usually under the dash, or in the steering column shroud. You can find out about the flashers in your car by checking in a Haynes or Chilton manual, or by running by a dealership and asking them where it is.
Sounds like an electrical problem, check your battery, alternator, and fuse box, and light wiring.

I have a 2002 Accord and the dome light, interior courtesy lights on the doors, and the map lights stopped working. They all work off one fuse and it was blown. I replaced the fuse for 93 cents and fixed the problem. . Before you worry about your fuse, i would check your doorpin! open all of the doors one by one and push the door pin all of the way in....sometimes you need to adjust the door latch
I had this problem with a '92 Saturn and it was because i blew a fuse. I am not sure which fuse it was as it was about 6 yrs ago, but you should check your fuses and see if any are blown. I know it sounds rediculous that the tail running lights and the dash lights are connected by the same fuse. Sorry I cannot give you a more detailed answer
Bulbs? Sockets? Steering column switch?
Check the Fuse.
It may be a bad fuse.... Try that.

I believe the flashers are on a separate fuse than the blinkers, that is where I would first start to look, is the fuse box
There isn't a separate fuse for the blinkers... they share a fuse with other lights. If no other lights are out, then you're looking at a different problem... might be a bad switch, might be faulty wiring.
If the bulbs light up but will not flash, the flasher relay is defective, and needs replacing. If none of the bulbs light up, the fuse is blown.
Blown fuse/? blown bulbs /?bad flasher.
blown fuse
Check the fuse
