When Johnny killed Bob, he did some thinking and learned to appreciate life more
the book is literally his story, ponyboy may narrate it, but johnny is the one who kills bob. so i guess heres a list of possible answers
-He causes a turning point by killing bob
-The killing causes a huge rumble between socs and greasers
-When he dies what dosent change?
-Dallys death
-Ponys grades
-Darrys fight with pony is a part of the resolution
-Not many pick up on this, but the note that johnny left for pony makes him right this story that you read.
Johnny changes the book in a number of ways, theres 7 of them.
Johnny used to be the "pet of the gang". He was never really tough, because he was abused. When he goes into the church to help save the kids, he is being selfless, and doesn't think about himself in this critical time. When he passed away, everyone knew him as a kind person who made choices for himself, risky ones.

I think as long as you DO NOT use any of her characters and plot then you should be good. Also do not base any of your characters on any of hers because that would be plagiarism.
in the book the outsiders by s. e. hinton, the point of view is 1st person, because ponyboy is the narrorator, and because you know his thoughts but not any of the other characters.
Johnny and Dallas are the 'main' supporting characters, although the rest of the gang is as well.
it made them feel better and to their gang[group] and to themselves..

Yes, several characters appear in both novels, which are both written by S.E. Hinton. Ponyboy Curtis from The Outsiders makes a brief appearance in Rumble Fish, while Steve Hays from The Outsiders has a larger role in Rumble Fish. There are other connections between the two novels as well.
Ponyboy and Johnny are the main, main characters but there is also Dally, Darry, Soda, Steve, and Two-Bit.
