You need to wash your hands in water as hot as you can stand with soap for at least 20 seconds ( as long as it takes to sing happy birthday). Make sure you get a lather going - it is the friction of your hands moving against each other that activates the soap. If you wear jewelry ( not reccomended) make sure you clean very well around the ring or whatever and get the soap underneath it. Dry your hands with a paper towel and use it to both turn off the faucet and to open the restroom door if you are in a bathroom.

If you are in an area other than your cooking station, repeat the process when you get to the kitchen.
