I teach school in Hawaii and there are a few children from Samoa. One child said that you get "lickins" if you get in trouble. Even if one student doesn't do their homework, then everyone gets in trouble. She lived there from 1997 -2005. They also have school year round, they don't get breaks. Also, in her school, if you bring lunch from home, you have to sit outside and eat it. They also don't get milk with lunch, they just have a cup of water.

School in Samoa is much like school in any developing country. They DO have school holidays after every term (there are usually 4 terms running about 8 weeks long) The holidays in between are about 1-2 weeks long and Xmas school holidays are around 8 weeks long. Schools in Samoa offer canteen/cafeteria foods, and of course you have the option to bring your own food. You are NOT told to eat outside if you bring food from home! Primary schools (to my knowledge) dont offer free milk, but of course there's always the drinking fountains and drinks from the canteens.
