I do not come from New Zealand, nor have been there so correct me if I'm wrong.
Volcanoes are a big threat and so are earthquakes, don't no much else
Actually, I believe the greatest threat to New Zealand, at least regarding habitat and native species, are introduced animal species from other countries, including Australia, that have decimated native habitat, thereby reducing indigenous animal populations through reducing the food supply and also directly, by killing and/or feeding on smaller native species.
It depends on your preference in scenery, climate, and culture. My answer is nothing, except that it is so far away and that I cannot visit as often due to the high cost of getting there and back. I also don't recommend going for less than two weeks, and with only two weeks you have to choose one island over the other to visit. Take a whole month and see both. It might be a small country, but it is very diverse environmentally and there is so much to see that even after a month you will have missed things. If you don't care for nature or rural settings, than stick to the north island, and make sure that you visit both Auckland and Wellington. The south island has a lot to offer, but there is way less of a population. Make sure you visit the Fiordlands as well as Queenstown.
Like every other country in the world pretty much NZ was hit by the recession bad. Causing unemployment. The government is not very corrupt so that's not a problem. NZ has a very casual drinking culture causing car crashes. Cities of NZ have there own problems, Auckland has the biggest population and lots of immigrants. All the other cities are very small and some don't have room to expand eg Wellington which is covered by hills. I would say the biggest problem is probably natural disasters Earthquakes are very common as a plate boundary runs straight through it also causing volcanoes and its hilly land. Christchurch earthquake was the latest deadly earthquake, there is meant to be a very big one in Wellington soon. So to sum things up its probably the fact that NZ is very small and has natural disasters!
Obesity is a growing health issue in NZ. Also the country has an aging population so age related health issues are a concern for the near future.
