If you're talking about spongebob, they're just everyday life lessons.
It depends on which cartoon. Some cartoons, like many Disney movies, have many wholesome messages and are entertaining (minus the alleged subliminal messages). If you don't believe in the subliminal messages, then kids should watch these cartoons. Some cartoons are for pure entertainment, like Spongebob. Toddlers should not be allowed to watch these for too long, but older kids (like 7+) can watch in moderation. Some are very violent, obscene and graphic, like many seinen animes. Kids should not be anywhere near these.
There are many cartoons on ABC Kids and some of the most famous cartoons include Power Rangers, Sesame Street, Peppa Pig, Joe & Jack, Zigby, and Thomas and Friends.
I watch cartoons non stop and i'm 21 =] People associate cartoons with kids but stop and watch some of them and you realise only the graphics and sounds are aimed toward children where as the content is most deffinately not for kids. Seriously, watch some episodes of Spongebob and I guarantee you you'll be like, "...kids can't understand some of this..." - Whatever - Peace
It depends if your watching it with your kids, that's even if you have kids.So put it this way,u can watch adult swim, its a channel that never gets old and basically says hey your 18 and older then watch some over rated cartoons. But you can watch some cartoons with your grand kids or just acth alone don't be embarressed.I'm 13 and i still watch spongbob. But don't watch to much cartoons or that will be a little weird.

Yes, some episodes do have hidden messages in them.
Fairy tales yes many of them do have hidden messages in them and many times we don't notice them. some have good messages and some have bad messages and we have know clue that they do.
In my opinion yes they are in some ways like the hidden messages they quickly pass threw to view. Most kids don't catch it but some do.
Cartoons are funny to them, and to some adults
Well, yeah, but that doesn't mean that there are messages hidden like "lol". It means there are things hidden in there. Like FedEx, If you will look closely, you will see an arrow hidden somewhere.
the medium of cartoon is a fantastic way to get life messages across to kids, and an easy way to spark their imaginations also, as cartoon characters are free, you can defy the laws of gravity and do anything you want to do! However there are cartoons/animated shows that are definitely not for kids, with adult humour, obscenities, nudity and recreations of things kids wouldn't have even heard about. An interesting thing about most adult cartoons also, is that they give life messages that we can all learn from. Some shows that immediately come to mind are 'SouthPark' and 'Family guy'. on top of this, it's not what you watch that makes you a man, it's what you do.
There are a number of cartoons for children with monkeys. Perhaps the most famous and popular is Curious George. Some other cartoons include Donkey Kong Country and The Monkey Referee.
There are many top rated cartoons for kids 6 years of age. Some of these cartoons include Dora The Explorer, Bubble Guppies, Thomas the Tank Engine and SpongeBob SquarePants.

Some people simply have broken through the strereotype that cartoons are only for kids. Kids are drawn to cartoons due to the bright colors and etc. However, as an artform, it could be used to tell deep and philosophical subjects (see Japanese anime). It may be that they are not refusing to grow up, they merely found something of value in those cartoons that you don't see.
Some kids hide in in the out-houses.
