As (Wizard) was a musical drama, for lack of a better category it abounded with songs. However, the popular song most associated with the Movie - was obviously, Over The Rainbow- as sung by Judy Garland. it only got in the movie by a narrow margin, as it was not in the play or the book, meteorologically a Cyclone would rip its own rainbow to shreds- it would not leave a visual trace. so, the Rainbow takes the cake.

The songs of The Wizard of Oz (1939) were penned by Harold Arlen (music) and E.Y. 'Yip' Harbug (lyrics).

There are many songs featured in the film, a lot of them now famous and symbols of culture. Here are some:

Over The Rainbow - Sung by Judy Garland at the beginning of the film. The song is considered the greatest song ever written and has been covered by other famous artists such as Eva Cassidy. The song would forever become synonomous with Judy Garland, becoming her 'theme song', and Garland herself stated she could never finish a concert without her audience demanding the song.

If I Only Had A Brain/Heart/The Nerve - Sung by the characters of the Scarecrow (Ray Bolger), the Tin Man (Jack Haley) and the Cowardly Lion (Bert Lahr) as they tell Dorothy what they long for the most.

Ding Dong, The Witch Is Dead - Sung by the Munchkins (credited as the Singer Midgets) during the Munchkinland sequence as they celebrate the death of the Wicked Witch of the East and being free from slavery after Dorothy's house fell on her.

The Merry Old Land Of Oz - Sung by the citizens of the Emerald City to greet Dorothy and their friends as they enter.
