The creators felt that they were able to end Aangs journey at the end of Avatar the Last Airbender as it was mainly Aang having to defeat the firelord and end the war. The Legend of Korra is meant to be almost a spin off/add on for The Last Airbender. The creators talk about showing clips of what happened after the series ended to answer questions like what happens to the gang, and what becomes of zukos mother.
Yes. In fact, in 2006 he said if the movie is successful he'll make 2 more movies. After the films recent success, James Cameron has confirmed that there will be a sequel, most likely continuing from the end of the first film and following Jake Sully and Neytiri. Sam Worthington has already signed on to play Jake Sully in a sequel. No development plans nor a title have been announced yet.
Depends on how you look at it. Aang saw a vision of her in the swamp (the episode is named "The Swamp"), but we see Toph "in person" a couple episodes later in "The Blind Bandit." This is all in Season 2.

A lot of series end that way and that is intentional. However, Aang, Zuko, and the gang, along with Azula, set out to find Zuko's mother in a 3-part graphic novel series named "The Search." SPOILER ALERT: Zuko's mother IS alive!
Toph comes a metal bender in the last or second last episode of book 2, when she is captured by the two men hired by her parents to capture her and bring her home. She metals bends her way out and returns to the Avatar gang
Personally, no. Why? Because after seeing the characters from ATLA develop and grow bonds with each other, I'm curious to find out what happens post-war. There were cliffhangers and possible story lines in the last episode movie of the series such as if Zuko's mom was alive or not as well as the growing relationship between Katara and Aang. It's sad to see that theres going to be a NEW avatar already along with the fact that Aang is dead (the rest of the gang is dead too I'm guessing).
Last Gang Records was created in 2003.
Last Gang in Town was created in 1978.
