Napoleon was first sent to Elba, an island in the Mediterranean Sea, after his first abdication. He escaped and recaptured power for a short time. After his definitive defeat in 1815, the British deported him in the south Atlantic island of Saint Helena.
He died there in 1821, treacherously poisoned by his captors according to some historians.
