A degree in Journalism, credible experience in the news field, a pleasant personality and appearance. This is one of those positions where you don't just jump in as anchor after graduation - you work your way up as an assignment editor, producer, photographer, reporter, editor, and other assignments to gain maturity, on-air presence, and local news history knowledge. Then its simply wait for an opportunity for weekend anchor, working up from there. It is much easier to get your start in small markets (smaller town stations) to get good experience all the way to anchor, stay for a while to gain more experience, and then apply to larger market stations. Good luck!
