Did C47's carry tanks in World War 2?

No, men only. Not true; the C47 was used to carry supplies, including jeeps, which is why the military version of the DC-3 had double wide doors. I read an exciting story about a C47 used to carry a dissembled Steel Radio Tower. The tie-downs gave way, and the pilot fought for almost an hour getting out of the area which was surrounded by mountains. The C47's exploits in China tell of "flying the Hump" to drop supplies to Chaing Kai Shek's fighters. They were used to tow gliders for the invasion of Normany on D-day. I flew in a C47 from Honolulu to Midway back during the Korean War.

Is the c17 and the c117 the same airplane and im not talking about the old c117 thank you all?

Both Aircraft are Cargo 'planes. The C17 is a Globemaster III still in use in a number of Military forces around the globe. The only reference I could find for a C117 is a modification of the C47 to enable a higher operating altitude. The C117 does not appear to still be in service

When was the Wards Westernfield Model C47 made?

Not sure- my cross references do not show a letter C as a prefix to any of the Wards guns. The Model 47 cross references to a Mossberg model 45, a bolt action, tube magazine .22 rifle. Most of those had rear peep sights, and the safety was a left-right swinging lever directly to the rear of the bolt (with a red/green dot set into the wood) IF that sounds like your firearm, Mossberg made that model from about 1935-1940.

How much is a 6 cents air mail stamp worth?

Sample Scott Numbers C40, C45 and C47. While most airmail stamps tend to be worth a bit more then regular issue stamps these are the most common and are valued at 15 or 20 cents mint or used, the minimum amount required to catalog and stock the stamps. Unused will always be worth at least their face value. Special cancellations and different values are likely to be worth more. Consult a postage stamp catalog, usually available at your local library for exact identification and catalog values.

What type of airplanes were during world war 2?

They were many and varied. The monoplane took over from the biplane, and by 1945 jets powered the Messerscmitt 262. Heavy Bombers had 4 engines, the Lancaster and B 29 Superfortress were the biggest. The principal cargo aircraft of the allies was the C47 Dakota (DC3 in civillian life). The Japanese had many different aircraft of high quality, their naval airforce flying from aircraft carriers against the US forces in the Pacific. Notably the Spitfire & ME 109 were both in production at the start & end of WW2. The P51 Mustang & the Mosquito, as well as the Spitfire, powered by Rolls Royce Merlin engines were among the best aircraft of WW2.
