What are the similarities between World War 2 and the war on terror?

In both cases, airplanes were used by foreigners to attack vital points in the United States, resulting in the deaths of many people, Americans and other nationalities. One important distinction must be made, however. In the case of Pearl Harbor, a recognized world power, Japan did the attack. This caused the US to enter World War 11. At the World Trade Center, hijacked American commercial airliners were used to smash into two large office buildings in New York City. No nation took responsibility for the WTC tragedy.
