The English navigator sailed in April of 1607 on a small ship with only 11 sailors to discover a passage across the pole to Asia. On his second trip in 1608 he reached Novaya Zemlya and in 1609 he did another voyage for the Dutch East India Co sailing for Davis Strait and then going south he entered the Hudson River and sailed up it for 150 miles. In April of 1610 he reached Greenland in June, arrived at Hudson Strait and passed through it entering the bay that now has his name. He decided to stay the winter, but food became short, the men mutinied and set him adrift with 8 others on June 23 to die.
