The official currency of Togo is the CFA franc, more specifically the West African CFA franc, where CFA stands for Communauté financière d'Afrique or Communauté Financière Africaine (Financial Community of Africa/African Financial Community), an economic cooperation between former French colonies.
The franc was phased out in 2001 and completely replaced by the euro in 2002. An euro was worth 6.55957 francs at the time of the switch. A franc is worth nothing as a currency nowadays, it reatins only a value as a souvenir or as a collectible.
