Multiple groups have set up trading settlements along East Africa's coast. A couple of the first groups to do so were the Indian and Muslim Groups. Also, the originating trading began as African culture, so the African group would be apart of the trading settlements as well.

South Africa is situated between the warm Indian Ocean (East & South coast) and the cold South Atlantic Ocean (West coast). The Indian Ocean brings warm water down the east coast from the equator, while the South Atlantic Ocean brings cold water up the west coast (from the Antarctic). The currents converge off the southernmost point of Africa near Cape Aghulas.

The first Europeans to reach West Africa were the Portuguese in the 15th century. Prince Henry the Navigator wanted to cut out the middleman and sent explorers to West Africa to look for gold.

Africa was made up of many different tribes speaking different languages. The Europeans helped Africa by showing these tribes how to set up a central government which in turn helped them develop an education process.

Africa was not "found," as it has been inhabited for thousands of years by various indigenous peoples. The continent was known to ancient civilizations such as the Egyptians and Greeks. The boundaries of Africa were mostly defined by colonial powers during the 19th century.
