On March 13, 1580, Sir Francis Drake [c. 1540-January 27, 1595] visited the Raja Donan of the Indonesian island of Java. He had brought a viol consort on his 'round-the-world journeys. And he had the players perform for the king. In return, on March 21, his ship was visited by the king, who brought along performers of the island's Gamelan music, as played on such instruments as drums and gongs. Drake described the result as strange, but delightful and pleasant music.
Pope Francis is widely respected and admired so I suppose you could say he is 'cool.'
Quoted from Dan Schneider (Creator of Drake and Josh)"Drake & Josh was never canceled. The term "canceled" usually applies to a network ending a TV show due to poor ratings. That never happened with Drake & Josh. In fact, Drake & Josh got its highest ratings during its final season. And the last episode "Really Big Shrimp" was the most-watched episode of the entire series' run.Drake & Josh ended because we all felt it was time to say goodbye. Both Drake Bell and Josh Peck had been with Nickelodeon for nearly 8 years (I first hired them for The Amanda Show). They were ready to move on and try new things. Also, the network already had plenty of episodes of Drake & Josh for reruns, and they were excited about the idea of me creating a new TV series for Miranda Cosgrove (which I did: iCarly). So, Drake & Josh ended because of a mutual decision by the stars, the network, and me. We were all very sad to say goodbye to the show, but we had a lot of fun two years later making "Merry Christmas, Drake & Josh.""
Antarctica and South America are not connected, but are separated by about 600 miles of ocean, called Drake's Passage -- some say, the wildest water on earth.

"One from the heart", Directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Ten minutes into the movie, Franny (Teri Gar) says "I am Tandaleo! Who are you, Pegan slave?".
He was, indeed, but more accurate would be to say 'navigator'.
Most say potatoes, tobacco and tomatoes, I think, but I may be wrong, either QI or the horrible history books of past times will say otherwise, I'm sure, sorry :)

If you ask the British, no; if you ask the Spanish, yes.Sir Francis Drake was a privateer: & yes, that is a pirate by all except the spelling ! He made his living by raiding other ships on the high seas. A sailor of fortune you might say. (& with reference to the above Spanish I ain't !)It's a matter of perception. The Spanish considered him a pirate. In England, he was a hero. Neither country had much love for each other back then.
Don't know what hesaid, but the legend is that on seeing the Armada appear, he insisted on completing a game of bowls he was playing.
No they are not the same. However, many researches and theories say that Francis Bacon, who wrote poetry, philosophy and advances scientific theories, used to write shakespeare's plays.
Drake is Pato in spanish.
Francis Drake was well known for his skill as a pirate, and Elizabeth I privately hired him on trips under Sir John Hawkins to raid Spanish ships in the New World. Eventually she sponsored his own voyages, which were so successful it brought England out of foreign debt. On his voyages a significant amount of map making was done in the California area, as well as along the coast of South America. Sir Francis Drake was the first Englishman to travel entirely around the world by sea, but no evidence shows that Elizabeth and Drake actually planned that in advance. Some say Drake decided that was a better way to get back, since they had difficulty going around the tip of South America on their trip.
In their cultural Java mythology, Gamelan music was first started in the Saka era (which is about 230 A.D), while others say it originated in the 8th century
Francis Nurse, husband to Rebecca Nurse, was highly respected in the Puritan community in Salem, Massachusetts. Francis warns Judge Danforth of Abigail's lies and accusations. Danforth cannot believe he is being coaxed. Francis: "Excellency, we have proof for your eyes; God forbid you shut them to it. The girls, sir, the girls are frauds." Danforth: "What's that?" Francis: "We have proof of it, sir. They are all deceiving you." Hathorne: "This is contempt, sir, contempt!" Danforth: "Peace Mr. Hathorne. Do you know who I am, Mr. Nurse?" Francis: "I surely do, sir, and I think you must be a wise judge to be what you are." Danforth: "And do you know that near to four hundred are in the jails from Marblehead to Lynn, and upon my signature" Francis: "I-" Danforth: "And seventy-two condemned to hang by that signature" Francis: "Excellency, I have never thought to say it to such a weighty judge, but you are being deceived."
