In my great grandmothers diaries, from Denmark in the late 1800's she writes about what she did every day of her life. She came from a well to, do middle class family, and in the evenings they would sit and play games, such as charades and guessing games. They played Musical Instruments and would play for each other as well. They also had a lot of dinner parties and had many guests who would come over and stay and talk. And of course, they read books.

Family size also depended on factors such as culture, socio-economic status, and access to healthcare.
