Micro-environment refers to a zone which has its own particular characteristics in terms of temperature, rainfall, wind exposure etc.

This may be due to the presence of mountains, lakes, the sea, but the combination of all these factors creates a unique and well defined environment.

For example, Lake Garda in north Italy is near the mountain chain of the Alps, but the water of the lake keeps the temperature mild here and allows such fruit as lemons and olives to grow which is unusual so far north in Italy.
