Ans. Swaraj (Sanskrit 'sva' own + Hindi 'raj' rule) is compound word which can mean generally self-governance or "self-rule" by the representatives of the people but it was to be under the British control indicating that the freedom was not with an outside authority. Under Swaraj, the Viceroy was to be appointed by the English and the Prime Minister was to be elected among Indians by the people.
Complete independence means the establishment of democratic government free from all foreign control. Under it all the internal and external authority remains within the hands of the independent country.
The slogan of complete Independence was adopted by the Indian National Congress on January 26, 1930 in the Lahore Congress session. Answer by Riyaz Kashmiri

independence day is celebrated in every year in the memory of our independence obtained on august 15 in the year of 1947.It was the day when the 'father of our nation ',Mohandaskaramchand Gandhi[1869-1948] made the British leave India as it was,but as independent. In 1929 the Lahore session of congress decided that 26 January would be celebrated as the day of 'poorna swaraj' or complete independence.when India became independent 26 January of the year 1950 was taken as the republic day. This 'complete independence' gave the people right to elect their representatives .Also it gave them many other rights. So the ultimate power lies in the hands of the public
On this day, the Indian National Congress declared 26 January as Independence Day or as the day for Poorna Swaraj (Complete Independence) which occurred 20 years later. It was this day when the Indian Tricolour was first unfurled at Lahore, by Pt Jawaharlal Nehru.
