How long does it take once the movie is done for it to be in theatres?

It depends on the movie, and on what you mean by "done." If by "done," you mean "the actors have all gone home, and the wrap party is history," there could be up to a year of "post-production," when special effects, editing, and re-recording some of the sound will be done. Post-production could be as fast as a month, for "small" films. If by "done," you mean the movie is complete and "in the can," it could be in theatres as soon as a week or two, depending on the studio's marketing and promotions.
